School Program

We prepare students for college and a Year 2025 workplace. The Academy is characterized by:

  • High expectations and rigor
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Personalized learning
  • Habits of success

Time and instruction based on student strengths and needs

The Academy is the only personalized learning school in Aurora. Students learn at a pace that matches their strengths, interests, and learning style. Students who are challenged by difficult content will get more time to learn; those who master the concepts can move on to other topics.

Competency-based advancement

Students advance when they demonstrate proficiency in key objectives. There is no social promotion at the Academy.

Habits of Success

We reinforce habits that build character and also foster caring citizens who are respectful and believe in helping others.

Read by Three!

The Academy will ensure all students read at or above grade level by the end of third grade or, if older at time of enrollment, by the time they reach the middle level grades.

Unique Features

Flexible class schedules, longer school hours, and workforce development skills create a family-friendly school that truly meets the needs of students.

School doors open from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

We will partner with parents
to provide the best education
possible. Every student receives their own student
learning plan developed in
conjunction with parents. We
will work with parents to raise expectations for what our students can accomplish. Understanding that many parents have difficult and busy work schedules, our doors will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. All students are welcome to play or study at school during the early morning or after school hours.

Year 2025 knowledge and skills

Beyond reading, writing, and math, our students will learn to think critically. Much of our curriculum helps students learn how to think, not just what to think. Students also learn subjects that will help them be competitive in a Year 2025 workplace — computer programming, use of mobile devices, information literacy, and problem solving.
